Abad named Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital president
Ann Abad has accepted the role of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital president, effective Dec. 2.
Abad currently serves as the vice president of operations for Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital, where she has overseen operational and strategic development for the hospitals for the past eight years.
Abad has been instrumental in developing multiple physician alignment strategies, working with private physicians and Washington University School of Medicine. She played a key role in the BJSPH Siteman Cancer Center expansion, in partnership with Washington University. She also co-leads the optimization of primary care access for new and existing patients as one of the BJC Strategic Action Items.
Abad joined BJC in 2005, first as a strategic planning manager with BJC Medical Group, then as director, and eventually vice president, of strategic planning for BJC HealthCare. As the vice president of strategic planning, she developed growth and capital projections for BJC’s 10-year financial model and led hospital and system-wide planning.
She earned her MBA from Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University.
“Ann joins a strong Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital leadership team, currently preparing to open a new, state-of-the-art hospital,” said Bob Cannon, Barnes-Jewish Hospital president and BJC group president.
Cannon also thanked Yoany Finetti, RN, MSN, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer, and Greg Branham, MD, chief medical officer, for serving as joint interim leaders to ensure the continuity of patient care and operations at BJWCH.
Trish Lollo, who started in her role as president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital in September, will continue to have responsibility for BJWCH construction and opening, and maintain her role as the primary liaison for strategy and planning with Washington University School of Medicine leadership, until Abad assumes her role in December.
