Greg Patterson

Greg Patterson President, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital

Greg Patterson is president of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, which is known for its highly specialized surgical and medical services delivered in a welcoming, personalized environment. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms in a newly built facility, the hospital was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. Patients have access to world-class physicians including Washington University Physicians, BJC Medical Group and private practice physicians, along with the latest research, medicine and technology. The hospital provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services such as heart and vascular; pain management; pulmonary function testing; radiology; a Siteman Cancer Center satellite; sleep medicine; and physical therapy and rehabilitation, as well as a full range of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures including bariatrics, digestive diseases, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, plastics, spine and urology.

Prior to being named to this leadership position in January 2023, Patterson served for three years as vice president and chief operating officer at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital in St. Charles County. In that role, he was responsible for general operations for both hospitals, with direct oversight of surgical and endoscopy services, laboratories, radiology, radiation oncology, vascular intervention labs, respiratory care, physician services, facilities, environmental services, food and nutrition, security and emergency preparedness. He previously was vice president of facilities and support services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital on the academic medical campus.

Patterson began his career with BJC in 2008, serving for five years as director of system real estate, managing BJC’s real estate portfolio, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, fit-out construction and property management of the system’s 26 medical office buildings and numerous BJC Medical Group sites.

A graduate of Saint Louis University, Patterson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in education and a juris doctorate from the Saint Louis University School of Law.
