Group President
Robert Cannon serves as group president for BJC HealthCare, with responsibilities for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, Christian Hospital, Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, Progress West Hospital, Goldfarb School of Nursing and BJC-wide construction.
Cannon’s previous experience with BJC HealthCare includes serving as president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Campus, a 1,263-bed facility located in St. Louis, Missouri. He also led strategic planning, capital budgeting, real estate, supply chain operations and clinical asset management for the system and had executive responsibility for BJC Home Care, BJC Behavioral Health and BJC Corporate Health.
Before joining BJC in 2000, Cannon was assistant dean of the University of Chicago’s Division of the Biological Sciences and Pritzker School of Medicine. His prior experience includes positions with Argonne National Laboratory, Lockheed Corporation and the federal Office of Management and Budget.
A graduate of the University of Chicago, Cannon also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Cannon serves on the administrative board of Association of American Medical Colleges Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) and on the CEO executive board of Vizient University Health System Consortium. He also serves on the boards of Washington University Medical Center Redevelopment Corporation, the CORTEX Innovation District, and is on the parent board for The Rehabilitation Institute of St. Louis.
Cannon is a native of Chicago, Ill., and is married with two children.
