BJC offers a variety of free e-greetings to help brighten patients’ days

Did you know that BJC offers a variety of e-greetings that can be sent to inpatients at many of our hospitals? Patients’ loved ones can send free e-greetings to let patients know they’re thinking of them. A patient experience team member at each participating hospital monitors the incoming email box and manages the distribution of each e-greeting. Within minutes, the e-greeting is printed and hand delivered to the patient. Messages are delivered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.

“When our patients are hospitalized, they are often disconnected from their loved ones, which can create a sense of loneliness and possibly lead to poor health outcomes or overall feeling down because they do not have their support system around them,” says Jennifer Carron, BJC patient experience executive director. “The virtual e-greeting is a way to keep patients connected with their support system. If the patient cannot read or is unconscious, our team member reads the card to the patient and posts it in their room.”

Loved ones can choose an e-greeting from the following categories:

  • Create your own design*

  • Get Well Soon

  • Thinking of You

  • Birthday

  • Congratulations

  • Holidays

Depending on when a patient is in the hospital, loved ones can send a card with the corresponding holiday. The following holiday e-greeting cards are available:

  • New Year

  • Lunar New Year

  • Black History Month

  • Valentine’s Day

  • Ramadan

  • Passover

  • Easter

  • Eid al-Fitr

  • Memorial Day

  • Juneteenth

  • Independence Day

  • Eid al-Adha

  • Hispanic Month

  • Rosh Hashanah

  • Yom Kippur

  • Diwali

  • Native American Month

  • Veterans Day

  • Thanksgiving

  • Hanukkah

  • Happy Holidays

  • Christmas

  • Kwanzaa

Messages can be delivered to patients who are listed in the hospital directory as inpatients. Participating hospitals cannot deliver messages to patients coming to the hospital for same-day surgery or outpatient or clinic visits. If a patient is no longer in the hospital or is not listed in the hospital directory, the message will not be delivered.

“These e-greetings continue to brighten the day of our patients and the sender, as well as our teams who get to share in the moment with them,” Carron says. “Sending a free e-greeting is one way BJC strives to live Our BJC Values, including Compassion and Respect, in these small, yet impactful offerings to our patients and their loved ones.”
