BJC employees give from the heart

Employees from across BJC once again made a difference in the fight against heart disease — with hundreds of team members turning out for the American Heart Association Heart Walk, May 18, at Busch Stadium.

To date, BJC is the top company for fund raising, with $150,826 raised.

Funds raised for the AHA benefit the Metro St. Louis region with research, technological development and education to eradicate cardiovascular disease from the future.

As the Signature Sponsor, BJC team members welcomed walkers at the entrance, handing out “Our World. Made Better.” clear stadium bags to all attendees. Other BJC activities included T-shirt sales for donations, a “Build the Arch” activity and a BJC “Healthy Selfie” photo booth.

“Heart disease is the leading killer of men and women, and impacts countless lives,” says Gregory Branham, MD, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital chief medical officer and the hospital’s Heart Walk executive sponsor. “The American Heart Association helps fund research conducted by BJC and Washington University School of Medicine. In turn, we all reap the benefits from the improved treatments that result from that research.”
