SERVICE LINE EXCELLENCE

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is ranked in Becker's Hospital Review of the 50 best acute care, multi-specialty academic medical centers and large community hospitals. Many BJC HealthCare hospitals received high performer awards in COPD, heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement.

PATIENT SATISFACTION

BJC HealthCare has received 47 5-star awards from Professional Research Consultants (PRC).

The 5-Star award designation is given annually to health care facilities that score in the top ten percent (at or above the 90th percentile) of PRC's national client database for the prior calendar year. It is based on the percentage of hospital patients who rate the facility "excellent" for the Overall Quality of Care question.

Ten "Overall Top Performer" awards were given to BJC HealthCare.

An "Overall Top Performer" is awarded only to those providers who, according to the survey results, have received a ranking at or above the 100th percentile for Overall Quality of Care

NURSING QUALITY

BJC HealthCare has three Magnet-designated facilities in Missouri and the only facilities in the St. Louis metro area: Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Memorial Hospital Belleville, Memorial Hospital Shiloh, Missouri Baptist Medical Center and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Magnet designation was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center to designate health care organizations showing quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice. 

CANCER CARE

BJC HealthCare has the only cancer center in Missouri, The Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine to be designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), also earning an "exceptional" rating, the highest possible rating by the NCI.
