President, BJC Medical Group

Dr. Douglas Pogue serves as president of BJC Medical Group, providing leadership to over 500
employed care providers in more than 100 outpatient practice sites and five hospitalist programs.
He also oversees BJC Medical Group’s day-to-day operations, including ensuring compliance with
established goals and objectives; providing high-quality, cost-effective health care services; and
reshaping ambulatory and hospital-based practices to provide accountable care and population
health. He coordinates efforts with BJC hospital chief medical officers and with clinical leadership.

Dr. Pogue started with BJC Medical Group in 1999, and most recently served as vice president and
chief medical officer.

He has also served as medical director of the BJC Accountable Care Organization (ACO),
chairman of the BJC Medical Group Advisory Board and executive physician leader of the BJC
Medical Group Physician Leadership Committee. He has been active in the BJC Collaborative, working with on the Collaborative Care Management Resources population health initiative.

Prior to his executive leadership roles, Dr. Pogue practiced internal medicine at Missouri Baptist
Medical Center for 16 years, serving as associate chief of medicine from 2010-2016, and as NFL
team physician for the St. Louis Rams from 2000-2012.

Dr. Pogue brings significant public policy experience to the role of BJC Medical Group president.
He is a member of the National Association of ACOs, serving on the national technology and
analytics committee. He has served on the Missouri Medicaid Task Force, participated in the
Washington Health Policy Fellowship Program and contributed to the Presidential Task Force on
National Healthcare Reform.

He is also active in the St. Louis community, focusing on the growth and development of young
people through teaching; year-round mentoring relationships; camps in Colorado, Wisconsin, and
Missouri; and free health care services and counseling.

Dr. Pogue earned his medical degree in 1995 from Washington University School of Medicine, and
his bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Ohio. He served as chief resident at the University
of Maryland Medical System during his medical residency.
