Ann Abad

President, Missouri Baptist Medical Center

As president of Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Ann Abad leads the acute care hospital located in St. Louis County. It offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services and 24-hour emergency care, with care for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. It is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Abad previously served as president of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, where she led the team’s significant growth of diagnostic and short-stay surgical and medical care. Prior to being named president in late 2019, Abad served as the vice president of operations for Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital, where she led the operational and strategic development for the hospitals for eight years.

Abad was instrumental in developing multiple physician alignment strategies, working with private physicians and Washington University School of Medicine. She played a key role in the Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Siteman Cancer Center expansion, in partnership with Washington University.

Abad joined BJC in 2005, first as a strategic planning manager with BJC Medical Group, then as director, and eventually vice president, of strategic planning for BJC HealthCare. As the vice president of strategic planning, she developed growth and capital projections for BJC’s 10-year financial model and led hospital and system-wide planning.

She earned her MBA from Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University. Abad is a United Way Tocqueville Society member, and active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
