Find a Midwife
Empowering you to take an active role in your care
At BJC, certified nurse midwives can take care of your gynecologic and pregnancy care needs. As a partner in your care, our midwives believe in empowering you to take an active role in your own healthcare and treat you as a whole person, with a more natural process.
For gynecologic services, they can perform annual women’s wellness exams and provide contraceptive counseling, family planning services and menopausal management. For obstetrics, they offer fertility, nutrition and exercise counseling and provide expert care during labor and delivery and care after birth for low-risk birthing people. Our midwives deliver in a hospital setting, so if something emergent does arise during your birth, they have immediate access to consult with, or get assistance from, our board-certified obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and neonatologists to ensure the safety of you and your baby.

Why Choose a Midwife for Pregnancy & Childbirth
For low-risk birthing patients, there are several reasons why one may choose to have their pregnancy care provided by one of our midwives. As certified nurse midwives, they:
- have extensive medical training in women’s health, providing pregnancy care and delivering babies
- encourage you to be an active participant in your care. They will consider your needs and goals throughout conception, pregnancy, labor, delivery and the postpartum period.
- practice a holistic approach to your care, focusing on natural processes, mental wellness, education and preparation
- schedule more time for appointments so you can connect, ask questions and learn. Often prenatal appointments provide:
- advice on proper nutrition and exercise
- emotional and mental support
- education about the prenatal period, labor process and beyond
- give you control over your birth plan, providing more options for your birthing experience
- stay by your side throughout the process providing emotional and physical support
- deliver in a hospital setting but support a more natural birth experience with low intervention and natural techniques for pain relief and care. Medical intervention or the use of medications are only considered when necessary or requested by the birthing person.
- work closely with BJC-affiliated Ob/Gyns in case complications arise during pregnancy or childbirth
