Goldfarb students introduce teens to world of nursing

Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College welcomed a group of 60 students and chaperones from the Wyman Center June 14 and introduced them to the world of nursing.

The Wyman Center empowers teens from economically disadvantaged circumstances to lead successful lives and build strong communities.

Goldfarb student ambassadors and student volunteers told their stories to the group, sharing what inspired them to pursue nursing and why they chose Goldfarb.

The Wyman students enjoyed practical learning experiences at three stations, including handwashing, an empathy belly and diapering.

“I had an amazing time getting to meet the students who attended the event. I think the visit was important because these students are entering a time when they start to think about what they want to do with their future careers,” says David Knes, BSN, a student in Goldfarb’s accelerated program. “Being aware of the field of nursing and all it has to offer could help them narrow down that decision.”
