Phase 1 of the Campus Renewal Project was realized in early 2018 St. Louis Children’s Hospital opened a 12-story, 222,000-square-foot, inpatient expansion on the Washington University Medical Campus. With a focus on improving the patient and family experience, the expansion increased the number of private inpatient rooms and opened more than 130 private newborn intensive care unit (NICU) rooms, which connects to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Women & Infants program. A second rooftop garden on the 7th floor provides respite for patients and families, and a second Ronald McDonald Family Room was added.
