Christopher Dean, Project Executive, Campus Renewal
Christopher brings 26 years of experience managing BJC construction projects, including Progress West Hospital, Children’s Specialty Care Center and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, to this next phase of Campus Renewal. As project executive, he leads BJC’s project management team, as well as manages and coordinates with the construction team.

Donna Ware, Executive Director, Planning & Design
With more than 25 years of experience designing large-scale health care projects nationally and internationally, Donna joined BJC in 2008 to lead planning and design for capital projects across BJC hospitals. Having led the planning and design teams for Campus Renewal Phase 1 (Barnes-Jewish Parkview Tower and St. Louis Children’s Hospital expansion, which opened in early 2018) and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, which opened in late 2019, Donna lends her expertise to the next phase of Campus Renewal.

Mike Hayes, Vice President, Construction
Mike joined BJC Planning, Design & Construction more than 10 years ago as a project manager. As vice president, he is the project liaison to BJC leadership. He will ensure that BJC’s vision of the project is conveyed to the internal and external project team, ensuring the project team has support it needs to carry out that vision.

Kathy Bretsch, Project Communications, Planning Design & Construction
Kathy joined BJC Planning, Design & Construction in 1997 to lead communications and PR for the Campus Integration Project on the Washington University Medical Campus, which included the Center for Advanced Medicine and Siteman Cancer Center that opened in 2001. Having led the communications for Campus Renewal Phase 1 Barnes-Jewish Parkview Tower and St. Louis Children’s Hospital expansion (opened in early 2018) and the new Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (opened in late 2019), Kathy will continue to do so for the next phases of Campus Renewal.

Justin Breig, Senior Project Manager, Design & Construction
Justin joined the Design & Construction in 2018 and has consistently been involved with projects on the Washington University Medical Campus, and in particular, the Campus Renewal Project. He helps manage the schedule and budget, and is the liaison between BJC, the construction team and Barnes- Jewish Hospital.

Charles Henson, Senior Diversity Manager, BJC HealthCare
Charles serves as BJC’s liaison, providing advocacy and support to contractors, primes and MBE/WBE firms.

Nick Hernandez, Design Manager, Planning & Design
Nick joined BJC in 2009 as a project engineer. His has worked extensively on design projects at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and several BJC outpatient health centers.

Matt Kotraba, Infrastructure Manager, Planning, Design & Construction
Matt joined Barnes Hospital in 1985 as a refrigeration mechanic, and was HVAC supervisor before joining Planning, Design & Construction as manager to lead the infrastructure equipment upgrades at all BJC hospitals. With his expansive knowledge and experience at Barnes-Jewish and the Washington University Medical Campus, Matt will support the Campus Renewal project as infrastructure manager.

Steph Kroener, Senior Activation Manager
With extensive nursing and management experience at SLCH for more than 30 years, Steph joined the Campus Renewal Project in 2013, leading the activation efforts for the expansion of St. Louis Children’s Hospital from the start of design through post-occupancy. For this phase of Campus Renewal, she again serves as one of the primary liaison between hospital departments and the design-build team.

Tina Menne, Senior Activation Manager
With extensive health care management experience with BJC Medical Group for more than 15 years, Tina joined the Campus Renewal Project in 2021. She has worked with multiple providers and staff to oversee many types of physician practices. For this phase of Campus Renewal, Tina serves as one of the primary liaison between hospital departments and the design-build team.

Steve Praprotnik, Corporate Engineer, Planning, Design & Construction
A licensed professional engineer, Steve joined BJC Planning, Design & Construction in 2018 and is the corporate engineer for the Campus Renewal Phase 3 project, providing engineering oversight for the project.

Cortney Secrest, Financial Project Manager
Cortney joined BJC planning, design & construction in 2023 with 11 years of construction accounting experience. As the financial project manager for the Campus Renewal Phase 3 project, she oversees the financial aspects of the project as well as work directly with the construction auditors.

John Yahl, Senior Project Manager, Construction
John joined BJC Clinical Asset Management in 2012 where he managed medical equipment projects. In 2014 John moved to BJC Planning, Design and Construction wh ere he has managed a wide array of projects including imaging equipment, patient floor renovations and new outpatient center buildings, and is the construction project manager for the Phase 3 Campus Renewal project, managing schedule and budget, as well as serving as a primary point of contact on site for BJC and as a liaison with the construction team.

Scott Couts, Director, Clinical Asset Management
Scott manages and plans for clinical equipment. In his role, he ensures the appropriate medical equipment is budgeted, planned and installed per specifications for each department, working closely with engineers and architects during the design phases of the project.

Justin Voss, Project Manager, Information Technology
As a project manager for the BJC technology services construction team, Justin manages information technology (IT) for new construction. He works closely with hospital staff to understand what’s required to support medical equipment and ensure the architects and engineers accommodate the IT infrastructure needed to maintain a complex health care environment.
