Safety on the Job

May 2021 – The Queeny Tower demolition team on BJC’s Campus Renewal Project participated in OSHA’s National Safety Stand Down to prevent falls. Falls are among the most common causes of serious work-related injuries. Debbie Kempf, Kadean’s safety & compliance manager; Joe Lewis, Ahrens’ on-site safety manager; and Steve Croce with National Safety Consulting, discussed general fall prevention, scaffolding and personal protective equipment (PPE), inspections of fall protection equipment, and rescue plans. They also demonstrated the proper use of a fall restraint system, which includes a body harness, anchor point, and a fixed length of lanyard attached to both.
