Tower Crane Removal to Affect Kingshighway

Weekends of Oct. 25 and Nov. 1

October 2024 - A short two and a half years ago, two tower cranes were erected along Kingshighway Blvd. to lift and move equipment and supplies for construction of Plaza West Tower, the 16-story inpatient facility at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Those cranes have lifted and placed literally tons of materials and supplies.

One of the tower cranes was dismantled in August. The second tower crane will be disassembled over two upcoming weekends, impacting traffic on Kingshighway:

  • Starting at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, work will begin to prepare for the disassembly of the crane. Contractors will close one lane of northbound Kingshighway, just north of Barnes-Jewish Plaza. Two northbound lanes will remain open; southbound traffic will not be affected. Contractors expect to reopen all lanes before morning rush hour, Monday, Oct. 28.
  • Starting at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, work will continue, with the closure of two northbound lanes of Kingshighway, just north of Barnes-Jewish Plaza. One northbound lane will remain open; southbound traffic will not be affected. Contractors expect to complete the crane disassembly before morning rush hour, Monday, Nov. 4.
