Ribbon is Cut on New Bridge

August 28, 2024 - Dozens of employees, physicians and patients gathered at 8 a.m. to celebrate the grand opening of the new pedestrian bridge at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. John Lynch, MD, president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, spoke of the signficance of the bridge, and how it's the first experience for patients and visitors as they enter the hospital.

Bob Dahm of Belleville, a recent heart surgery patient, joined the festivites, expressing his gratitude for the care he received at Barnes-Jewish. He remarked on how the new entrance and bridger were much more welcoming.

The new Plaza Coffee Bar opened as well, serving Starbucks, teas and other beverages, pastries and grab-and-go items. Unlike the former coffee bar, the new location has seating.

The next phase to renew the entire hospital lobby has already started. The hospital elevators serving the street level and main level lobbies closed. The Central elevators remain accessible from the lobby, and the escalators remain. Concierge/guest relations staff will direct patients and visitors.
