The new central sterile processing department (CSPD), located on the ground floor, has two dedicated elevators to serve the procedure floor one level up. Each elevator has a specific function: 1) transport clean supplies to the OR supply room, and 2) return case carts from the soiled utility room.
CSPD has all new instrument washers, a cart washer and steam sterilizers, as well as six lighted, height-adjustable workstations for assembly. To maximize department efficiencies, CSPD personnel can monitor the number of case carts in the soiled utility room via video feed and dispatch team members to retrieve them.
CSPD has its own staff break room, locker rooms and showers.
