January 2023 – A group of women working on the BJC Campus Renewal Project visited Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls in January, sharing personal experiences and career opportunities in the design and construction industry.
November 2022 - From the outside, it may look like your average construction trailer -- but behind the door, a world of opportunities awaits area high school students.
This fall, administrators and teachers from local high schools attended an open house at the Career Resource Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital – a partnership between BJC HealthCare, Tarlton Corporation, McCarthy Building Companies and Washington University to introduce students to construction and health care careers. The center hosts a dynamic, one-day program for high school students that aims to address future workforce needs in the community by sparking an interest in these career fields.
November 2022 - Continuing a tradition of offering influenza vaccinations on construction projects, BJC HealthCare’s infection prevention specialists Loie Couch and Becca Vines vaccinated 20 workers on the Campus Renewal Project site at Barnes-Jewish Hospital Oct. 20.
October 24, 2022 - The week of October 17 was Construction Inclusion Week, and the Campus Renewal project team jumped in for a week of activities, guest speakers and food. Focused on advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the industry, speakers educated the team on concepts of accountability and belonging, and how the project team can take action to increase inclusion.
Sept. 2022 - Trades men and women were recognized by the Campus Renewal Project team during Craft Appreciation Week. While their work is appreciated every day, the week-long celebration included pancake breakfast, raffles and giveaways, guest speakers and a barbeque lunch.
